Irma A. Reiss, 87, Brownstown

Irma A. Reiss, 87, of Brownstown, died at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2008, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Roger Wohletz officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 6- p.m. on Wednesday at Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials: Lutheran Care Center or Holy Cross Radio Ministry.

Mrs. Reiss was born on Aug. 16, 1920, in Kinmundy, the daughter of Edwin W. and Mathilda Schnake Hollman. She married Walter M. Reiss on Aug. 16, 1942, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in St. Peter; he died in 1996.

She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Reiss and his wife Pat of Monee; daughters, Dorothy Dot and her husband Steve Hamilton of Elwood, Gloria Dwyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lana and her husband Stan Smith of Brownstown; brother, Edwin Hollman and his wife Laura of St. Peter; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two daughters.
