Lowell P. Rhodes, 88, of Clinton and formerly of Fillmore, died at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Hawthorne Inn of Clinton.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore, with the Rev. Harry Kirk officiating. Burial with military rites accorded by Anderson-Scoggins American Legion Post No. 460 of Ramsey will be in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Alzheimers Association or American Heart Association.
Mr. Rhodes was born on April 13, 1920, in Bingham, the son of Homer E. and Cynthia K. Davidson Rhodes. He married Margie May Garland on Feb. 10, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo.; she died on July 8, 1998.
He was a retired machinist with Revere Copper and Brass Co. in Clinton, and was of Baptist affiliation. He served with the Army during World War II.
He is survived by sons, Clinton Rhodes and his wife Beverly of Midland City, and Clayton Rhodes and his wife Dorothy of Clinton; daughters, Barbara and her husband Larry Luster of Clinton, Elizabeth and her husband Richard Hall of Campbell, Mo.; Marilyn Walters of Crowley, Texas, and Margie and her husband Frederick Kallmayer of St. Joseph; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, six brothers and three sisters.
