Helen M. Helm, 89, of Vandalia, died at 8:37 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital & Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural St. Elmo. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials: Church of God in Vandalia.
Mrs. Helm was born on Jan. 21, 1919, in rural Brownstown, the daughter of George Washington and Ivy Aldridge Haslett. She married E. Gerald Helm on Jan. 12, 1939; he died on April 18, 2004.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Church of God in Vandalia.
She is survived by sons, Jerry Helm and his wife Jane of Greenburg, Ind., Rick Helm and his wife Saundra of Vandalia, Ernie Helm of Wildomar, Calif., and Don Helm and his wife Jennifer of Lincoln; brother, Louis Haslett and his wife Bonnie of Brownstown; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and two sisters.
