Morris A. Taylor, 74, Smithboro

Morris A. Taylor, of Smithboro, died at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Greenville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Young Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Benjamin Potter officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery, Hagarstown. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: ALS Foundation.

Mr. Taylor was born on March 15, 1934, in Bond County. He married Ava Ruth Blackwell on June 26, 1951, in Pocahontas, Ark.

He grew up in the Mulberry Grove area and attended Mulberry Grove High School. He also attended Greenville College and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He worked for Greenville Service Co. for 10 years and then worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance for 34 years. He was a member of Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church, Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 245 A.F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite Bodies.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Marilyn Ann and her husband Charles Rogers of Worthington Springs, Fla.; son, Michael E. Taylor of Eagle River, Ark.; sisters, Harriette and her husband Roger Ball of Elizabethtown, Ky., Doris Kious of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Beverly and her husband Wayne Humman of Steger; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Kious; stepfather, Warren Kious; and brother, Dean Kious.
