Gertrude Kastner, 79, of St. Peter, died at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with Pastor Keith Aschenbeck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter and an hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials: St. Paul Building Fund, Lakeland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center or donors choice.
Mrs. Kastner was born on April 30, 1928, in Marion County, the daughter of Martin and Emma Rebbe Lange. She married Wilmer Kastner on May 26, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She was a homemaker and farmer, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the churchs Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her husband; son, Kent Kastner and his wife Joyce of Shobonier; daughters, Joyce and her husband Bruce Robbe of Kinmundy, and Carolyn and her husband Ed Smalley of Henderson, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Wilmer Lange; and sisters, Frieda Bousman and Helen Lotz.
