Bernard Robert ‘Bob’ Chase, 72, of Vandalia, died at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Friends and Families of Fayette County Hospital and Glendale Cemetery.
Mr. Chase was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in East St. Louis, the son of Robert Jerome Jr. and Bernice Annabelle Moter Chase. He married Helen Green in 1956. He married Kay S. Harrison Denning on Oct. 3, 1979.
He retired from John Crane in Vandalia in 1993, and was affiliated with the Catholic Church and American Legion. He served in the Army from 1954-62.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael Chase and Chuck Chase, both of Boston, Mass.; daughters, Pam Chase of Boston, Mass., and Tammy and her husband Todd Compton of Vandalia; brother, Rick Chase and his wife Yvonne of Pocahontas; sisters, Eileen Gassett of Granite City, and Debbie and her husband Larry Lile of Greenville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and stepfather, Bill Chase of Pocahontas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
