Freddie Edward Fred Morris, 72, of Fillmore, died at 7:11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Family and friends may gather at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Morris was born on June 5, 1935, in Fillmore, the son of Edward and Stella F. Eaton Morris. He married Beverly J. Lehmen.
He was a retired railroad telegrapher and construction worker, and a member of Laborers Union International of North America.
He is survived by a son, Kirk Morris and his wife Christi of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Renee Morris of Vandalia; grandchild, Mark Rosenkoetter Jr.; brother, Arthur Morris and his wife Irene of Nokomis; and sister, Ella and her husband Maurice Beckman of Fillmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Evelyn, in 1991.
