Ronald Paul Kious, 46, of Brownstown, died at 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Brownstown, with the Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Burial will be in Pilcher Cemetery in Brownstown, with military rites accorded graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9770 of Brownstown and the U.S. Marines Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, both at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Heart Association, First Baptist Church in Brownstown, Pilcher Cemetery or Brownstown Park District.
Mr. Kious was born on Jan. 29, 1962, in Greenville, the son of Cecil Paul and Evelyn Rose Willis Kious. He was reared by grandparents William and Ina Willis. He married Paula M. Snow on Dec. 23, 1985, in Brownstown.
He was a correctional officer at Vandalia Correctional Center and a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447. He served in the Marines from 1980-84.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Trevor Kious and his wife Audra of Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., and Jared Kious of Brownstown; and father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Dee Fisher of Brownstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandparents.,
