Cary O. Black, 89, of Vandalia and formerly of Ramsey and Springfield, died at 2:38 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, with the Rev. Larry ODell officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery, Ramsey. Visitation will be held an hour before services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Black was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Morrisontown, Tenn., the daughter of James Alfred and Georgia Eva Stump Williams. She married Otto Adams in 1937, and they later divorced. She married Luther O. Black on Jan. 27, 1962; he died on Aug. 19, 1991.
She was a retired employee of Sangamo Electric in Springfield and a homemaker. She attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in rural Ramsey.
She is survived by a son, Larry D. Adams of Lormita, Calif.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and a stepson, Don Black.
