Thomas Riley Loggins Sr., 63, of Greenville, died at 3:08 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Dale Deverick officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Dell Cemetery, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post No. 1180 of Mulberry Grove. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Mr. Loggins was born on Nov. 19, 1934, in Highland, the son of Ralph and Luella Hicks Loggins. He married Helen Brauckmueller in Greenville in June 1954; she preceded him in death.
He grew up in Greenville and attended Greenville schools, graduating from Greenville High School. He joined the Navy after high school, serving during the Korean Crisis. He then returned to Greenville. He worked at Raslers Electric and Boyd Automotive, and traveled the country doing various jobs.
He is survived by daughters, Rose Marie Volkers of Livingston and Judith Lynn Chapman of Donnellson; sons, Thomas R. Loggins of Vandalia, Timothy D. Loggins of Smithboro and Ralph L. Loggins of Hookdale; brother, LeRoy Loggins of Wichita, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and daughter, Barbara Sue Loggins, at age 1.
