Paul Dean Baker, 72, of Shumway, died at 2:55 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at St. Anthonys Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City, with Kent Denton officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Cemetery near Effingham. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: The family.
Mr. Baker was born on Oct. 3, 1935, in Fayette County, the son of Jesse and Dorothy Woods Baker. He married Helen Heil on Oct. 2, 1965, in Beecher City.
He worked at Fedders Corp. in Effingham for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He loved time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed fast cars, riding a motorcycle and fishing.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife; children, Eddy Baker and his wife Sheryl of Olney, Stanley Baker an dhis wife Jill of Mason, Doty Cain of Effingham, Angela Ladendorf of Mattoon, Cindy and her husband Steve Bushue of Mason, and Diane and her husband Mike Harom of Newton; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lois and her husband Darrell Neal of Effingham; brothers, Leon Baker and his wife Joyce of Orange County, Fla., Don Baker and his wife Lou of Springfield, and Dale Baker and his wife Bobbi of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Spracklen.
