Gayle Willy, 51, of Arlington, Texas, died on Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Services were held on Sunday, March 20, 2008, in Angleton, Texas. Burial was in Phair Cemetery near the family ranch. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 28, from 4-8 p.m. at the Barton Stone Community Room in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Willy was born on Feb. 5, 1957, in Winchester, Ill., the daughter of Glen and Enid Lacy Smock. She met Jeff Willy in February 1980, and they later married.
She grew up and went to school in Jacksonville. Her family owned and operated Elm City Shows, a carnival that traveled the state to fairs and festivals. Upon graduation from high school, she began to work for Capital Records in the sound department for quality control. After their marriage, she and her husband traveled the world for Jeffs job. She loved to ride her horses and loved her dog, Cowboy.
She is survived by her husband; brothers, Richard Smock and his wife Janet, and Kevin Smock and his wife Lori; sister, Debbie and her husband Ron Schmitt; extended Texas family, Richard and Sue Willy, John and Beth Willy, and Tom and Judy Bielstein; mother- and father-in-law, Dicky and Lola Willy; stepdaughter, Amy Willy; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews, both in Texas and Illinois.
