Ella Mae Wright, 67, of St. Elmo, died at 4:24 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont, with the Rev. Michael Schuessler officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted following services at Springhill Cemetery, rural Beecher City. Visitation will be held an hour before services at the church. Kull Funeral Home in St. Elmo was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
Mrs. Wright was born on May 23, 1940, in Altamont, the daughter of Floyd Bud and Viola Wolff-McVicker. She married Gary Ray Wright on March 25, 1959, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Vandalia.
She worked numerous jobs at Lucky Strike Lanes, Altamont Garment Co. and Carriage Inn, all in Altamont, and at Princess Peggy Dress Factory in Vandalia. She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed on April 11, 1954. She graduated from Altamont High School. She was a member of Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. Wright is survived her husband; sons, Larry Ray Wright of St. Elmo, and Craig Lee Wright and his wife Dianna of St. Elmo; daughters, Patricia Kay Wright, Janice Katherine and her husband J.D. Russell of St. Elmo, and Sandra Jean and her husband Tracy May of St. Elmo; brother, Jim Lee McVicker and his wife Connie of Olney; sisters, Anna Belle and her husband Eddie Berg of Mahomet, Ruby June and her husband Bud Myers of St. Elmo, and Clara Louise and her husband Tom Orr of Dalton City; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Lynn Wright and his wife Lynn Anne.
