Lucille ‘Hoppy’ Gerard, 88, of Vandalia, died at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department Hospice.
Mrs. Gerard was born on Jan. 1, 1920, in Shobonier, the daughter of George John and his wife Mayme Lorraine Lape Honke. She married George Gerard on Dec. 18, 1937, in Terre Haute, Ind.; he died on Feb. 3, 1987.
She was a formerly a flag man for the Illinois Department of Transportation and a seamstress at the former Princess Peggy Dress Factory in Vandalia.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Crystal and her husband Mike Harbison of Vandalia; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jackie Glenn; daughters, Frances Wollerman and Norma Gerard; and a sister, Dollie Bolyard.
