Viva Lillian Dial, 87, of Brownstown, died at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Liberty Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held form 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown. Memorials: Donors choice.
Mrs. Dial was born on April 21, 1920, in Shobonier, the daughter of Rollie A. and Dora E. Swick Elder. She married Alfred Floyd Dial on June 8, 1935; he died on May 15, 1984.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons, Alfred Steve Dial and his wife Linda of Brownstown, and John Dial and his wife Teresa of St. Peter; daughters, Pam and her husband Mike Shaw of Brownstown, and Floy and her husband James Bell of Beecher City; brother, Charles Elder and his wife Jean of Nelson; sister, Dorothy Richards of Brownstown; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Doris Richmond and Phyllis Dubiel; brothers, Rollie and William Elder; sister, Faye Davison; and grandson, Shane Gould.
