Saturday, March 1

eoe’ The Golden Years Club of Brownstown will provide a free ‘Community Thanks’ luncheon from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the club building, located at First and Division streets. The menu will include chicken and noodle soup, bean soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, drinks and dessert. The public is invited. The club will be selling tickets for its Easter raffle, with the prize being an Easter basket full of Easter items.

Sunday, March 2

eoe’ The Ladies Aid of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Shobonier will hold its annual soup, sandwich and dessert luncheon at the church parish hall, with serving to being at 11 a.m. A free-will offering will be taken, with matching funds to be provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Monday, March 3

eoe’ The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the city hall, at Fifth and Gallatin streets.

Tuesday, March 4

eoe’ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

eoe’ An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Home in St. Peter.

eoe’ A Fayette County Relay for Life meeting will be held at Los Amigos Restaurant on Veterans Avenue. Anyone interested in being a team captain or helping a committee is invited to attend. The committee meeting starts at 6 p.m., and the team captain meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 5

eoe’ A Food Distribution Outreach is from 9 a.m.-noon at the Road Angel, located at the Brownstown Interstate 70 exit. A free lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-noon.

eoe’ The La Leche League of Effingham will meet at 9:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 600 W. Temple Ave., Effingham. Mothers with their babies and toddlers, as well as expectant mothers, are welcome.

eoe’ A Project Parenting playgroup for children up through 5 years old will be held from 10-11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo.

eoe’ A representative of Senior Services will be at the Phillips Building in St. Elmo from 10 a.m.-noon to assist senior citizens with Circuit Breaker forms.

eoe’ A Lenten Luncheon will be held at noon at First Baptist Church in Vandalia. The Rev. Roberta Mosier-Peterson of Parkview Free Methodist Church will speak on ‘Christ the Shepherd.’ A free-will offering will be taken. To make reservations, call the church.

eoe’ The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly meeting in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. A noon luncheon is followed by a business meeting and a program.

eoe’ The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency will meet at 7 p.m. in the EMA headquarters, located in the basement of the Fayette County Jail.

eoe’ Bible Blitz will be held from 7-8 p.m. at Parkview Free Methodist Church, which is located at 1507 W. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, for all children age 3 through sixth-grade age. Bible Blitz includes Bible study, music, crafts and games. The church also offers a youth group for junior high- and high school-aged students, as well as an adult Bible Study. All gatherings are open to the public.

eoe’ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.
