Larry Gene Hodson, 70, of Gilbert, Ariz., and formerly of Vandalia, died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at Mountain Vista Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
Memorial services and interment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 17, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield. A gathering of remembrance was held on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. at his home. Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery in Chandler, Ariz., was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hodson was born on March 16, 1937, in Vandalia, the son of Paul and Lucy Hodson, and Mary Harris Hodson. He then married Donna E. Graquinton on Aug. 22, 1989.
He was a 1955 graduate of Vandalia High School, and he was retired from the Air Force after serving for 22 years. He later worked for the Department of Defense Aerospace Program in the radar and tracking systems, through which he traveled extensively. He has been around the world several times. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Gilroy, Calif.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Douglas Hodson and his wife Suzanne of Eugene, Ore., and Kevin Koppers and his wife Eri of California; daughters, Kathy Mueller of Mansfield, Texas, Jill Melchlorre of Mansfield, Texas and Brisste Koppers of Alaska; brother, Paul Bub Hodson and his wife Carolyn of Altamont; sister, Kay Sue Krohn of Altamont; niece, Paula Krohn of Altamont; nephews, Todd Hodson of rural St. Elmo, Jarred Hodson of Friendship, Texas, Doug Mattix of Mundelein and Geoff Krohn of Noblesville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Podge Hodson; and an infant brother, Roger Hodson.
