Rosalind B. Carruthers, 81, Ramsey
Rosaline Belle Carruthers, 81, of Ramsey, died at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Glenn Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Building fund of First Baptist Church in Ramsey.
Mrs. Carruthers was born in Iuka, the daughter of the Rev. E.B. and Grace Burrough Blankenship. She married Richard John Carruthers on May 14, 1950, in Shelbyville.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School and from Sparks Business College. She was formerly employed by the Illinois Department of Public Aid and the Illinois Department of Corrections in Vandalia. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ramsey.
She is survived by her husband; son, Richard Carruthers Jr. of Vancouver, British Columbia; grandchildren, David, Stephen and Thomas Carruthers; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Zachariah and Bradlen; and sister, Judy Cook of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Violet Boaz; and brothers, Kenneth, Gerald and Billy Blankenship.
