Cliford Henager, 87, Champaign

Cliford Henager, 87, of Champaign, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Services will be held at a later date. Lux Memorial Chapel in Rantoul was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henager was born on July 31, 1920, in Vandalia, the son of Edward and Mary Elizabeth Bowen Henager. He married Lucille Phelps on Jan. 2, 1947, in Vandalia.

He worked as a linotype operator at the Champaign-Urbana Courier for 20 years, and also worked part-time at the Champaign News-Gazette. He was a veteran of World War II. His hobbies were golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife; children, Stephen Henager and his wife Robin of Champaign, Tommy Henager of Bradenton, Fla., Linda Jones of Champaign and Richard Henager of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Candice Jones-Freeman, Rachel Arnold, Justin Asburgy and Savannah Coronado, all of Champaign, and Ryan Henager and Sarah Henager of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
