Mary E. Emerick, 76, of Vandalia, died at 6:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia, with the Rev. Dan Rush officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery, Hagarstown. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Emerick was born on July 21, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of John and Verna Kunz Brewer. She married Robert E. Bob Emerick on May 17, 1952, in Vandalia; he died on Sept. 22, 1996.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Fayette County Cancer Support Group.
She is survived by a son, Steve Emerick and his wife Cathy of Altamont; daughter, Kathy and her husband Kevin Storm of Vandalia; special niece, Julie and her husband Roger Myers of Vandalia; brother, George Brewer of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Thelma Lucy of Washington, Mo., and Patsy Brewer of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, David Denton and his wife Cari, and Kaleb Storm; and great-grandchildren, Bryanna Denton, Allyssa Denton, Kayla Denton, Bethany Denton, Trenton Burgess, Trey Burgess and Ty Burgess.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, John and Ray Brewer; and sister, Dorothy Kretzman.
