John William ‘Toby’ Knott, 73, of Mulberry Grove, died at 8:23 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at the family residence.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Pittsburg Free Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Sanders officiating. There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 5 at the family residence. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Knott was born on April 5, 1934, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the son of H.J. and Ethel Clubb Knott. He married Rhonda Weaver on May 29, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was a mechanist for Goodyear Aerospace and Anheuser-Busch in Houston, Texas, and a member of Pittsburg Free Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; sons, John David Knott of Austin, Texas, and William Michael Knott of Bellingham, Wash.; sisters, Katie and her husband Floyd Findlay of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Georgia and her husband Jim Fiske of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; grandchildren, John Daniel, Joshua Grant, John Michael and Katherine Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Joshua Cullen, Ian Alexander and Seth Triston.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
