James D. Palmer, 51, of Hillsboro and formerly of Pana, died at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Kennedy & Sons Funeral Home in Pana, with Tad Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana Township. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Memorials: Diabetes Foundation.
Mr. Palmer was born on March 5, 1956, in Pana, the son of James Vernon and Betty J. Puckett Palmer.
He was reared in Pana, and attended Sacred Heart School and Pana High School. He was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal.
He is survived by his mother; sons, Shane M. Porter of Nokomis and James W. Palmer of Pana; daughter, Nikki Jo Palmer of Nokomis; grandchildren, Samantha and Trevor Porter; brothers, Philip Palmer and his wife Gloria of Pana, Herb Palmer of Pana and Vince Temmen of Pana; and sisters, Pam and her husband Robert “Butch” Lynch of Pana, Martha and her husband Don Miller of Taylorville, Wanda and her husband Charles Dumire of Mt. Pulaski, and Robin and her husband Brad Moomey of Owaneco.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; son, Cory Palmer; and daughter, Marybeth Palmer.
