Elvin E. King, 86, of Brownstown and formerly of Columbia, died at 7:16 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. King was born on April 19, 1921, in Jackson, Tenn., the son of Bob and Mable King.
He was an employee of Emerson Electric, and a member of Overcup Baptist Church in rural Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife, Syble; sons, Billy King and his wife Carolyn of Alma, and James Willard King and his wife Linda of Laport, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; sisters, May Short, Nezz Mitchell and Adar Harrison.
