eoe’ Santa Claus will be at Something Special Florist and Gifts, located at 402 W. Gallatin St. in Vandalia, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

eoe’ The Vandalia Elementary Schools’ Honor Chorus will present its Christmas performance, ‘North Pole Exposure,’ at 7 p.m. in the Vandalia Elementary School gym. The performance is free and open to the public.

Sunday, December 16

eoe’ An open house is being held at the new Brownstown Branch Library from 2-4 p.m. Holiday cookies, punch and coffee will be available. Ruby Goldsborough will be available to sign copies of her book of poems.

eoe’ The Vandalia Community High School band’s winter concert will be held at 2 p.m. in the VCHS gym. The concert is free and open to the public.

eoe’ Santa Claus and his horse, Jingles, will be arriving at Temple Baptist Church, located at Ill. Route 185 and Airport Road in Vandalia. Refreshments will be served at 4 p.m., and Santa will arrive a shortly thereafter to pass out treats and give buggy rides to children. The public is invited.

eoe’ The children of Crown Point Church will present a Christmas program at 6 p.m. that will include music, recitations and skits. The public is invited. The church is located seven miles south of Vandalia on Carlyle Road.

Monday, December 17

eoe’ The Vandalia Economic Development Commission will meet at noon in the former city hall, 221 S. Fifth St.

eoe’ The Mulberry Grove Schools’ Christmas program will be held at 6 p.m. in the high school gym, with the theme this year being ‘The Nutcracker Suite.’ Participating will be elementary school music classes, the elementary school chorus and the junior-senior high chorus. The program is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, December 18

eoe’ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

eoe’ The Vandalia Rotary Club will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from noon-6 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. All presenting donors will receive a free long-sleeved vintage T-shirt.

eoe’ The Vandalia Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. in the district’s administration center.

eoe’ A dance for seniors will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St., Patoka. Admission is $5.

eoe’ A Project Parenting playgroup for children up through 5 years old will be held from 10-11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo.

eoe’ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.

eoe’ Parkview Free Methodist Church (Family Life Center), located at 1507 W. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, will host ‘Christmas Extravaganza,’ an evening of food and fun. Children, teens and adults will present Christmas through drama, music and humor. The public is invited to attend.

eoe’ Soroptimist International will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia.
