Louise G. Edwards, 87, of Rochester and formerly of Peoria and Alton, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Villa Health Care East in Sherman.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Rochester United Methodist Church or Alzheimers Association.
Mrs. Edwards was born on Nov. 5, 1920, in Dillon, the daughter of Henry and Almeda Thorn Schlyer. She married Lawrence C. Edwards on Feb. 21, 1948, in Chicago.
She was a 39-year resident of Rochester and graduated from Green Valley High School in 1939. She was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria from 1942-57, and was a homemaker thereafter. She was an avid outdoors person, enjoying wild birds, wild game animals, gardening and flowers. She was an outstanding bowler, and always owned a toy terrier as a pet. She and her husband raised and trained Tennessee walking horses and bird dogs.
She is survived by her husband; sisters, Irma Wright of North Carolina and Marge C. Gicewicz of Manito; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Stergon and Arletta Easden; and brother, Paul E. Schlyer.
