Janice G. Savill, 74, of Vandalia and formerly of Canton, died at 9:38 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Rick Atchley officiating. Burial is in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Visitation was held on Sunday afternoon at the funeral Home. Memorials: American Cancer Society or Monterey United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Savill was born on April 15, 1933, in Fulton County, the daughter of Ina Allison Chambers. She married Vernon C. Savill Jr. on June 12, 1952, in Abingdon; he died on Jan. 16, 1981.
She worked for Caterpillar Inc. as an orders analyst for 23 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Vandalia. She was also a member of the Altrusa Club and Business & Professional Women of Canton.
She is survived by daughters, Marta and her husband Reginald Kramer of Wyoming, Minn., and Caryl and her husband Steven Hickerson of Shobonier; brothers, Jack and his wife Nancy Stick of Avon, and Robert and his wife LeAnn Chambers of Prairie City; sisters, Sandra Lee of Galesburg and Roberta Currens of Davenport, Iowa; and granddaughters, Molly, Rachel and Abby Hickerson, and Maggie Kramer.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ina and Wayne Chambers; husband; and brother, Dean Stick.
