Adell Gluesenkamp, 85, of Alma, died at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Laclede Groves in St. Louis, Mo.
Services were held at noon on Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial was in St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was held two hours before services at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Society or St. Peter Veterans Memorial.
Mrs. Gluesenkamp was born on April 14, 1922, in St. Paul, Wilberton Township, Fayette County, the daughter of Theodore and Augusta Torbeck Rubin. She married Lester O. Gluesenkamp on June 1, 1947, at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, St. Peter American Legion Auxiliary and Community Womens Club. She volunteered as a pink lady at Salem Township Hospital for more than 25 years.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Linda and her husband Scott Whitley of St. Louis, Mo.; sons, Cary and his wife Roberta Gluesenkamp of Beaverton, Ore., Richard and his wife Gail Gluesenkamp of Andover, Maine; Michael and his wife Janet Gluesenkamp of St. Louis, Mo., and Mark and his wife Dawn Gluesenkamp of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Hilda Curry of Vandalia; brother, Jack and his wife Betty Rubin of St. Peter; sister-in-law, Bernice Rubin of St. Peter; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, twin Arlon Rubin and Ralph Rubin; and sisters, Helen Stephens and Doris Smail.
