Naomi Maxine Kious, 72, of Vandalia, died on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Shelby Baptist Memorial Hospital in Alabaster, Ala.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 24, at Young Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Loren File officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Kious was bon on Oct. 28, 1935, in Bond County, the daughter of Vernon and Mary Blaylock Massey. She married Kenneth Kious on Sept. 11, 1955; they later divorced.
She grew up in Sorento and Greenville, and graduated from Greenville. She had worked as a CNA at Greenville Regional Hospital and St. Josephs Hospital in Breese. She also worked in home healthcare. She served as an election judge. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by daughters, Marietta and her husband Vance D. Harrelson of Helena, Ala., Angela and her husband Keith Belcher of Vandalia, Nancy King of Omaha, Neb., and Linda and her husband Kent Gooding of Mulberry Grove; sons, Patrick Kious of Pocahontas, Andy Kious of King George, Va., and Harry Carl Butch Kious of California, Md.; sister, Della and her husband Gene File of Pocahontas; brother, Lloyd Massey of Decatur; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
