Mary J. ‘Judy’ Rickett

Mary J. ‘Judy’ Rickett, 66, Vandalia, died at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Christian North East Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Rod Caswell officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. There is no visitation. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Rickett was born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Robert H. and Jesse Irene Grant Finley. She married Tony Glenn Payne in 1967, and later married John S. Rickett, on July 4, 1989.

She was a homemaker, a member of First Assembly of God Church in Vandalia and ‘Come and Share,’ and a supporter of T.B.N. She served in the U.S. Army.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Tony Glenn Payne of Perryville, Mo., Kenneth Payne of Brownstown, Daniel Rickett of Vandalia and Tony Rickett of Fond Du Lac, Wis.; stepson, John Rickett, U.S. Army in Virginia; daughters, Lisa Bennett of Vandalia, Melissa Payne of Riverton, and Mechelle Payne, Judith Walls, Jamie Rickett and Jasmin Rickett, all of Vandalia; stepdaughters, Darena Bremser of Fond Du Lac, Wis., and Deanna Rickett of Raymond; brother, Grant Finley of Nokomis; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Finley; and sister, Virginia Wheeling.
