Lloyd E. Ellsworth, 84, of Mulberry Grove, died at 12:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at his home.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at Woburn Church of Christ, with the Revs. Max Whited and Wayne Davis officiating. Burial with graveside military rites Mulberry Grove American Legion Post No. 1180 was in Mulberry Grove Cemetery, Mulberry Grove.
Mr. Ellsworth was born on Oct. 18, 1923, in Bond County, the son of Albert J. and Tola Ruth Borror Ellsworth. He married Grace Devall on Aug. 2, 1942, in Wright City, Mo.; she died on Aug. 8, 1999.
He grew up and lived in Mulberry Grove all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. After the service, he worked for the Pennslyvania Railroad and then went to work for Pet Milk, retiring in 1992. He served as the chief of the Mulberry Grove Fire Department for years. He was a charter member of Mulberry Grove American Legion Post No. 1180 and a member of Woburn Church of Christ.
He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann and her husband Ronald Waters of Mulberry Grove; son, Robert Ellsworth of Belvidere; sister, Leola Osburn of Auburn; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Gary Ellsworth; sister, Mildred Huskisson; brother, Albert DuWayne Ellsworth; and two grandchildren.
