Lucile Wright, 98, of Eureka and formerly of Beecher City, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Eureka Community Hospital, Eureka.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Springhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. Kessel Funeral Home in St. Elmo is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Springhill Cemetery Fund.
Mrs. Wright was born on Dec. 16, 1908, the daughter of Azariah ‘Ed’ and Emma Haynes Sweazy. She married James Bill Wright on Oct. 19, 1929; he died on May 21, 1998.
She was born and reared in Loudon Township, Fayette County, where she was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, living in the original homestead until 1998, when she relocated to Eureka to be near family. She was a 50-year member of the Fayette County Home Extension Association and a member of Springhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a son, Ronald and his wife Janet Wright of Washington, Ill.; daughter, Sharon and her husband Jimmie Hill of Jerseyville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Roland Sweazy; and sisters, Goldie Anderson, Ethel Riley, Leatha Holley, Mabel McGraw and Flora Durbin.
