Jean L. Lowe, 83, St. Elmo
Jean L. Lowe, 83, of St. Elmo and formerly of Effingham and Paducah, Ky., died at 1:28 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at her home.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Kessel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, with Pastors Ray Stafford and Alice True officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of services. Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, Ky. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
Mrs. Lowe was born on June 20, 1924, the daughter of Bobbie and Katherine Kinsey Stubblefield. She married Richard M. Lowe on Nov. 22, 1998, in St. Elmo.
As a young woman, Mrs. Lowe worked as a clerk in the family grocery store, and continued her career as a proprietor of her own grocery store in Paducah for several years. After relocating to St. Elmo, she was a sales clerk for more than 15 years at the floral shop until here retirement in 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Elmo.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Shelia and her husband Bud Himes of St. Elmo; grandchildren, Scott Himes of Neoga, and Gina and her husband Mark Stites of Charleston, S.C.; great-grandson, John Mark Stites; four stepchildren; many stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; brothers, Robert and his wife Novilee Stubblefield of Paducah, Harold and his wife Betty Stubblefield of Reston, Va., and Jerry and his wife Joanne Stubblefield of Petaluma, Calif.; three nieces; four nephews; and some cousins.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Herndon, in 1984; father and stepmother, Bobbie and Lorene Fleming Stubblefield; mother and stepfather, Katherine and her husband Harry Cruse; and stepbrother, Harry Cruse Jr.
