Off days are for extended travel, so no rest for wicked, right?

  • Post 95 reaches semis of...

Hitless games have been few and far between for Vandalia’s Brett Mueller this season.

And after going hitless for back-to-back games for the first time in Sr. Legion action this summer, he bounced back with a hit in the semifinals of the 29th annual Mattoon Firecracker Classic.

That single, however, was one of just four for Post 95 last Saturday, as Vandalia lost back-to-back games for the first time this season after being shut down, 4-0, by eventual tournament champion Mattoon.

  • Post 95 wins another District...

VANDALIA – Jacob Behrends remained perfect with another complete game, Noah Powless drove in three runs and Post 95 rebounded from its first back-to-back losses with a 7-2 win against Salem in Sr. Legion District play.

Behrends fired his second straight complete game, striking out seven to earn his third win in District action and move his overall record to 6-0.

“He’s been throwing strikes like crazy,” said outfielder Austin Schwarm. “A big part of his success is that he doesn’t walk many people.”

Vandalia finished the final shootout at 1-6, and closed the summer at 9-23.

Nashville topped Princeton, Ind., 32-13 to win the final shootout.
