  • Vandal wrestlers go 2-1 at...

Senior John Vosholler made the smartest decision among the Vandals during a quadrangular meet on Saturday.

With the Vandals trailing 24-0 against state-ranked Leroy, Vosholler found himself hooked into John Morrell’s cradle lock in the third round of their match, which Vosholler was losing, 2-0.

He did not panic, however, instead maneuvering himself into a defensive pin position, forcing Morrell’s shoulders to the mat to win the match with 1:08 left on the clock, boosting the team’s morale.

  • 'Hustle plays' key to...

GREENVILLE – Two second-half plays defined Vandalia’s 52-39 win against Greenville last Friday.

Junior Bryan Hosick lost control of his dribble late in the third quarter with the Vandals leading 30-23.

But instead of giving up on the loose ball, Hosick dove to the floor, briefly gained control the ball and flipped it to senior Marty Johnson, who promptly made a bucket to put Vandalia ahead by nine.

  • Senior spotlight: Zach Rigdon...

BROWNSTOWN –– Senior Zach Rigdon did not think long before pronouncing himself a better basketball player than teammate Bryce Mason.

    “Most definitely me,” he said.

Mason, also a senior, insists on the opposite.

“I can take him,” he said. “No doubt.”

A neutral party, coach Vince Rohr, left the debate open.
