    Two more records fell as the Vandalia boys and girls track teams hosted a five-team meet on Tuesday.

    Vandalia improved to 15-6 on the season with an 8-4 win over Litchfield on Monday.

  • Bombers go 2-0 at Wayne City...

    Brownstown/St. Elmo was a perfect 2-0 at the Wayne City Round Robin on Saturday, defeating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 4-3, and Wayne City, 13-6.
    In the win over CHBC, the Bombers scored once in the second inning, twice in the third and one in the fifth, then held off a late rally.
    Dalton Denton got the win, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out 10 and walking five. Bryton Pruett got a save for BSE.
    Isaac Maxey, Lewis Brown, Dalton Denton and Wade Ireland had the four BSE hits, with Maxey, Brown and Denton each knocking a two-bagger.

  • Two VCHS records fall Tuesday

    A new school record was set at each event on Tuesday as the Vandalia boys track team participated in the Cumberland Pirate Invite and the girls team at the Mattoon Invitational.

  • SEB wins Nokomis Tourney

    The Lady Eagles won the Nokomis Tournament on Saturday, defeating Pana and the host team.
    St. Elmo/Brownstown topped Pana, 3-1, and Nokomis, 14-7.

  • Vandals top Greenville in SCC...

    Vandalia avenged a one-run loss earlier in the season with a 3-1 win over the Comets in Greenville on Tuesday.
    Both pitchers hurled complete games, and while Greenville’s Lucas Carlson allowed fewer hits than the Vandals Richie Well, Well got the win.

    Brownstown/St. Elmo outhit Pana, 8-7, and took advantage of three Panther errors to record a 10-7 win at Pana last Thursday.
    Dalton Denton, Caleb Atwood, Wade Ireland and Jeffrey Kelly each had two RBIs for the Bombers, who improved to 2-6 on the season.
    Bryton Pruett picked up the win, giving up seven hits and four runs while striking out three and walking two in 4 1/3 innings. Jeffrey Kelly struck out two in an inning of work to earn a save.
