    The South Central High School volleyball team won the Herrin Tournament on Saturday.

    Seniors Emily Atwood and Kinzie Neilson were named to the all-tournament team.

    On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus hosted the Fayette County Family YMCA Board of Directors Strategic Planning Session. 

  • St. Elmo to induct teams to Wall...

    St. Elmo High School will add two teams to its Wall of Fame on Tuesday.

    The school will be honoring its 1951-52 football team, and its 2003-04 volleyball team.

    The ceremony will be held between the JV and varsity volleyball games that night.

    The Kids Safe-T/Health Expo, sponsored by Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care, State Farm Insurance, Fayette County Interagency Council (FCIC) and the Safe Kids Coalition, was held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Kaskaskia College.

    More than 500 people attended the event. State Farm Insurance gave away two bicycles and 13 bicycle helmets to promote bicycle safety at the event.

    The Midland Trail Conference Baseball Tournament will open on Monday with first-round games. All games will be played at the higher seed's school.

    Game 1: No. 1 Woodlawn vs. No. 8 Odin

    Game 2: No. 4 Cisne vs. No. 5 Webber

    Game 3: No. 2 North Clay vs. No. 7 Clay City

    Game 4: No. 3 South Central vs. No. 6 Sandoval

    Quarterfinal and semifinal games, and the title game will be played in Kinmundy.

    Game 5: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

  • Beasley Ks 17 to give St. Elmo...

    St. Elmo's Connor Beasley struck out 17 and allowed just one hit to give the Eagles the Egyptian-Illini Conference championship on Friday in an 8-0 win against Patoka.

    In the third-place game, Beecher City defeated Mulberry Grove, 9-6.

  • Vandalia hosting Volley for a...

    The Vandalia Lady Vandals will host Greenville on Thursday for the annual Volley for a Cure match. The freshman game begins at 5 p.m., and there will be volleyball and other activites throughout the remainder of the evening.

    Volley for a Cure T-shirts will be available for $10.

    There will be several raffles, a silent auction, and an iPod giveaway ($5 per ticket) during the night, and Jennifer Knebel will be a guest speaker. All cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized during the evening.

  • Mondays's Vandalia JV...

    The Vandalia High School JV football game that is scheduled on Monday at home against Litchfield has been moved to Hillsboro, due to the rubber layer being installed at the new track. Home athletic passes will be honored at the 6 p.m. game.
