  • The College Report: Earnest...

Another one for the trophy case.

For Jessica Earnest, a Vandalia grad and Vanderbilt University bowler, it was another certificate for her wall. But, this one might mean more than most.

The Vanderbilt sophomore was named to the National Ten Pin Coaches Association All-American team. Earnest was named to the second team and was one of three Vanderbilt bowlers selected.

  • Newsom has another walk-off for...

Whitney Newsom has a flair for the dramatic.

For some reason, the Vandalia senior always seems to find a bat in her hands with the game on the line.

Not that anyone cares, since she seems to deliver every time.

Such was the case last Wednesday when her sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning brought home sophomore Morgan Whightsil to give the Lady Vandals a 3-2 comeback win against Greenville.

That was Newsom's second walk-off at-bat of the season.

The Lady Eagles scored four times in the third inning, led by an RBI double by senior Brooke Maxey and a two-run bunt single by sophomore Savannah Feezel.
