  • The College Report: Eric Hobbie...

Vandalia grad Eric Hobbie has been waiting for this moment for months.

On Thursday, it will finally happen. After missing two months of games, Hobbie will once again be on the court for McKendree University.

"I am very happy to be back," said the Bearcat senior. "There were several players that had an opportunity to play because I was injured. That may actually help us in the long run. The leg is not 100 percent, but it is getting better all the time."

  • Basketball roundup: area teams...

PATOKA – The Patoka High School boys basketball team struggled to combat Cisne's patient offense in the first half of a 48-35 loss on Tuesday.

The Warriors, at one point, trailed the Runnin' Lions 21-5, despite preparing for the offensive scheme on Monday.

"We ran their offense for 30 minutes yesterday," said coach Joe Eddy. "We knew they going to be deliberate."

He said he "hopes" the poor play was the result of a long layoff. The Warriors had not played since Dec. 18 at the Wayne City Holiday Tournament.
