  • Ramsey falls in regional...

ALTAMONT – The Lady Rams had six extra-base hits, but struggled at the plate with runners in scoring position on Saturday during a 10-3 loss to Altamont in the championship game of the Altamont Regional.

Seven Ramsey runners were left on second or third, and the Lady Rams were just 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Senior Stevie Coates had a pair of triples, but a total of five strikeouts followed her hits to leave her stranded at third base both times.

  • Season ends too early for St....

ASSUMPTION – The season ended prematurely for St. Elmo last Thursday in the semifinals of the regional tournament, halting the careers of four extremely talented seniors.

Ben Sperry, Blaine Scholes, Willie Magnus and Woodsen Savage all have started for four years for the Eagles, and an 11-1 loss to Windsor that snapped a 14-game winning streak was not the finish anyone had in mind.

The South Central High School softball team surrendered two runs in the seventh inning of a 6-5 loss to Odin last Wednesday in the Odin Regional.

Senior Alexis Phillips led the offense in the game, hitting a triple and driving home a pair of runs in her final high school game.

Senior Celeste Fox had a single and an RBI.

Kellie Crain had a pair of singles, and Oceana Whitt and Macie Cain each had one single.
