Slowly, but surely, the Senior Legion team is coming together this summer.

Eight games into the season, the Post 95 squad has a record of 5-3, with most of its wins coming with depleted squad.

Patoka High School's deep run into postseason play delayed the arrival of Luke Murfin and Zach Thompson, who will both be key additions on the mound and at the plate. Add in that a couple of the big bats from Vandalia's high school team aren't playing this summer, and the Senior Legion outlook started to look bleak.

Michael Kramer had a pretty good month of May.

Playing in several postseason baseball games for Brownstown High School, graduating from BHS, and qualifying for state in the high jump with the Brownstown-St. Elmo co-op track and field team were all memorable moments for Kramer over the past 30 days.

They were also stepping stones on his way to the awards podium in Charleston where he received the fourth-place medal in the high jump at the IHSA State Finals.

Patoka will play South Central on Saturday in the Albion Sectional championship at 1 p.m.

The winner plays in the Marion Supersectional on Monday at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, Patoka defeated Dieterich 3-0 and South Central defeated Albion 7-4.

South Central beat Patoka 9-7 earlier this season.

For the second straight year, Vandalia qualified athletes for the boys IHSA Track and Field State Finals.

Angel Osorio is returning to state for the second consecutive year, after placing second in the high jump at the Robinson Sectional on Friday, with a jump of 6 feet, 5 inches.

Osorio nearly qualified for state in the 400-meter dash, placing third with a time of 52.90 seconds

Last season at state, Osorio had to compete with the rain as well as other athletes. The weather hindered his performance placing him in a tie for 18th at 6 feet.
