  • Four wrestlers place at Princeton

    Four Vandalia wrestlers placed in one of the top state tournaments for the second year in a row, leading the Vandals to a ninth-place finish.
    Vandalia totaled 107 points in the Princeton Invitational Tournament, tying Wilmington for ninth in the 33-team event.
    Tanner Swain and Anthony Enlow recorded second-place finishes, Trevor Philpot placed third in his class and Jarrett Paslay finished in fifth place.

    All four bowlers won their matches as the Vandalia girls bowling team defeated Taylorville last Thursday at Vandalia Bowling Center.

  • Girls win Taylorville Invite

    Vandalia’s Sophia Richardson rolled her first career 700 series in leading the girls bowling team to the Taylorville Invitational title on Saturday.

  • Vandals now 2-0 in tourney play

    Richie Well scored 32 of his game-high 37 points in the first half as the Vandals jumped to a big lead in defeating Mulberry Grove, 90-70, at home on Tuesday.

  • South Central edges WSS; SEB...

    South Central held a five-point lead after three quarters, then held on for a 58-56 win over Windsor/Stew-Stras on Tuesday.
    Three South Central players scored in double figures, Trent Geiler leading with 17 points. Trevor Markley had four treys and 14 points, and Logan Lotz had 13 points.
    The Cougars trailed 18-14 after one quarter, then held a one-point edge in the second to trail by three. The third quarter was the difference, with South Central scoring 21 points to WSS’s 13.

  • Freshmen McNary, Kern combine...

    Freshmen Lanee McNary and Megan Kern combined for 30 points to lead the Lady Vandals to a 58-24 win over Staunton last Thursday.
    McNary hit four three-pointers in totaling 15 points, and Kern hit five two-pointers and five free throws to also score 15.
    McNary hit three treys in the first quarter as Vandalia led 18-7. In the second quarter, Kern scored six points and Rachel Zimmerman added four as the Lady Vandals extended their lead to 20, 33-13, by halftime.

  • SEB edged on Tuesday

    St. Elmo/Brownstown outscored Toledo-Cumberland in the second half on Tuesday, but came up four points short.
    Toledo-Cumberland led 17-13 after one quarter and 33-24 at the half on their way to a 52-48 win. The Eagles held a 12-11 edge in the third quarter and a 12-11 edge in the fourth.
    Dylan Brooks led the Eagles with 13 points, including 2 for 2 from three-point range, and Landon Feezel also was in double figures with 12.
    Other scorers: Lewis Brown 9, Isaac Maxey 7, Klayton Kroll 6 and Nate Philpot 1.

  • Lady Cougars fall twice in...

    South Central lost of Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at the Dieterich Tournament last Thursday.
    Abby Hahn led the Lady Cougars with 22 points. Other scorers: Alannah Sigrist, 9; Katlyn Hilmes, 2; Deidre Hall 2; Sydney Wilkins 2; and Mady Kollman, 1.
    Last Wednesday, the Lady Cougars lost to North Clay, 46-21.
    Hahn led South Central with 11 points.
    Other scorers: Sigrist, 4; Hilmes, 2; Kollman, 2; and Wilkins, 2.
