    The Vandalia Jr. Vandals 10-year-old girls softball team went undefeated to win the Central Illinois All-Star Softball Tournament in Pana on July 25-26.

  • Family Y opens registration for...

    The Family YMCA has opened registration for three fall programs.
    Registration forms for all programs are available at the Family YMCA website, www.fayetteymca.com.
    FLAG FOOTBALL
    Registration for grades 2-4 is open through 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23. Those who register after that date will be charged a $20 late fee.
    Games will be played at the YMCA’s Miller Field on Mondays and Thursdays, with the first games to be played on or after Sept. 14.

    Two members of this year's Vandals baseball squad received all-conference honors.
    Vandalia's Zach Schaal, a graduating senior, was named to the South Central Conference first team as a designated hitter/utility player.
    Sophomore Richie Well was named to the third team as an infielder.

    A number of area players were named to Egyptian-Illini Conference all-conference squads.
    Karissa Woody of Mulberry Grove named MVP as a member of the first team.
    Others named to the first team were Paige Fleeman of Christ Our Rock Lutheran;  Kayla Zimmerman and Lauren Robison of Mulberry Grove; Baylee Scholes and Tessa Philpot of St. Elmo/Brownstown; Skye Kimberlin and Abbi Cunningham of Ramsey; and Amanda Pierce and Billie Kollman of Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.
