  • Superstitions in focus for Friday the 13th races in Brownstown

    By Kristopher Blankenship

The 10th week of racing at Fayette County Speedway came on a beautiful June day last Friday night, with cool weather, green grass, a prepared race track and plenty of race cars.

By all accounts, the perfect night for racing.

Except, of course, that it was Friday the 13th and everyone knew to expect a big full moon rising from over the backstretch wall.

Superstition is in the heart of all racers.

  • Weather doesn't slow down week three action at speedway

    By Kristopher Blankenship

This week, Fayette County Speedway fought Mother Nature and won.

Rain that hit the area on Thursday night tried to wash out racing this week but track promoter Charlie Depew and his crew worked on the facility to make for another great night of racing.

    Although, it wasn’t easy.

The pits were muddy, and the track was soft. Early races had to deal with some rough areas and a bit of a slimy surface, but as the night wore on, the track slowly took shape.

  • Fayette County Speedway: Close battles highlight week 2

    By Kristopher Blankenship

Week No. 2 at Fayette County Speedway is in the record books, with several great battles on the track all night long last Friday.

The UMP modified division was a dogfight all night, ending in heartbreak for some and a victory for only one driver.

The night started fast, with an outstanding duel in heat No. 1 between front row starters Michael Meyer and Craig Kern. The race quickly became an all-out battle, with Meyer edging Kern for the win.

  • Over 60 cars at opening night at Fayette County Speedway

    By Kristopher Blankenship

Opening night at Fayette County Speedway went off without a hitch last Friday night, as the UMP modifieds, B-Mods, street stocks and hornets all hit the track.

The track was smooth and fast all night, and fans were treated to great racing in all classes, which featured 65 cars. A mix of old cars, new cars, new drivers and drivers changing classes should make for an exciting season in the points standings.

In the UMP modified class, Brian Bielong and Robbie Eilers put on a show, with both drivers winning his heat race.

  • Racing begins Friday

Admission is $30 for a pit pass, $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for children ages 8-12 and free for children 7-and-under who attend with a paying adult.
