  • National tour thrills at county speedway

    By Kristopher Blankenship

The UMP Summer National tour made its annual stop at Fayette County Speedway last Friday night, ushering in the track’s biggest night of the year.

The Summer National “Hell Tour” is an annual endurance series, which races 33 nights at 33 different tracks throughout the Midwest over 39 straight days.

Off days are for extended travel, so no rest for wicked, right?

  • Track provides several grooves in week 9

    By Kristopher Blankenship

For the past couple weeks, I haven't written anything up, because there just wasn't much to write about, with the same drivers running up front and many of the same results at Fayette County Speedway.

It’s up to the racers to change all that and there have been some drivers diligently working to find just a little more speed, and on Friday night, that work started to show in week nine action.

On another great night of racing, there was a breakthrough for one of the track’s most popular drivers.

  • Fayette County Speedway beats Mother Nature again

    By Kristopher Blankenship

Week 5 at Fayette County Speedway was again threatened by Mother Nature last Friday night but again overcame.

With rain showers in the area the night before and in the afternoon shutting down tracks in Belleville and Granite City, Fayette County Speedway was spared, providing a great opportunity to showcase the track to other drivers in the region.

  • Speedway sees several new winners in week four action

    By Kristopher Blankenship

Cool weather and gloomy skies last Friday night worried track officials at Fayette County Speedway.

With rain possible, promoter Charlie Depew decided to push ahead and race, and the teams and fans who showed up were rewarded with another great night of racing.

Getting four weeks into the season with no rain outs yet is certainly abnormal and that’s great, because racers hate rainouts.
