South Central High School graduate Tanner Bushue is having a strong season for the Lexington Legends, a single A affiliate of the Houston Astros, but he is currently on the seven-day disabled list.
Through Saturday, Bushue had started 11 games and compiled a 6-2 record.
Bushue also had a brief stint on disabled list in the middle of May, but prior to that, he was dominant, winning five of his first six starts.
On June 5, his second start back from the DL, Bushue had one of his finest outings of the season.
KC to hold summer volleyball camps
The Kaskaskia College volleyball program will host two volleyball camps this summer in June for area youth. Both camps will be from June 21-22.
The first camp is held for students in grades K-5 and will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. The second camp is for students in grades 6–8 and will be held from 1-3 p.m.
The registration fee for each camp is $25 and includes a T-shirt).
The camp will be instructed by Blue Angels volleyball coach Kim Rahar and current KC volleyball players.
Special show coming to Fayette County Speedway on Friday
A special show will take place at Fayette County Speedway on Friday, and the special show from last Friday, which was postponed due to rain, will be made up at a later date this summer.
This Friday, the POWRi Midgets and 600cc Mini Sprints will be featured at the speedway. Regular racing of modifieds, street stocks, hornets and team cars will also take place.
Sprint cars to race in Brownstown
A special show on Friday at the Fayette County Speedway will feature the Monster Energy Sprint Car Series 410 winged sprints.
Additional classes running are: Crate Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Hornets and Team Cars.
The gates open at 5 p.m., the draw closes at 7 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and the racing immediately follows hot laps.
YMCA holding Healthy Kids Day event
The Family YMCA is hosting a free event in conjunction with the national YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday.
The event will take place from 1-3 p.m., with activities such as tug-o-war, dodge ball, kick ball and a fun relay.
The day is designed to help parents and children understand the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle.
