Vandalia Jr. wrestler Tanner Swain helped Team IL Orange and Blue win the AAU Elementary Duals in Kingsport, Tenn., this past weekend.
Individually, Swain had a 3-5 record to help his team go 6-2 to win the Silver Division.
There were 22 teams from 12 states at the event.
Vandalia resident Jacob Daniels, 8, harvested his first turkey on April 1 during the Illinois youth turkey hunting season. The tom turkey weighed 21 pounds, with an 11-inch beard and 3/4-inch spurs. Daniels went on the hunt with his father and uncle.
Summer baseball and softball sign-up ends Saturday
Sign-up for the summer baseball and softball programs at the Fayette County Family YMCA ends on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Many different leagues are available for various age groups, and all players will receive a T-shirt that serves as their uniform.

T-ball
•Boys and girls under 5 years old; $15 for members, $30 for nonmembers.
The Fayette County Family YMCA held its spring grappling tournament recently.

Vandalia's Tanner Swain won a state championship in the Midget 79A division at the Illinois Midget State Championships this past weekend.
In the championship match, Swain defeated Brant Demoss, 2-0.
Vandalia resident Anthony Enlow won the intermediate 138-pound division at the Highland Sectional.
He wrestles for the King Select Wrestling Club and plans to wrestle in next weekend's midget state meet in Danville.
Vandalia Jr. Club wrestler Tanner Swain won the intermediate 79-pound division at Highland, and at the intermediate 55-pound division, Kyle Miller placed second and Jarek Wehrle placed third.
Markus Isaiah also wrestled.
