Fifteen members were present for the May 9 Mother’s Day potluck and meeting of the Sefton HCE Unit. Chairman  Flo Allen welcomed those present, and Panzi Blackwell asked the blessing for the meal. Following the meal, Sally Behrends and her kitchen helper cleaned the area.

PTA Pinning at KC

Kaskaskia College held its annual pinning ceremony recently for the physical therapist assistant program class of 2013.

Vandals fall short in 12-inning...

CARLINVILLE – A day after returning to Carlinville to resume a regional quarterfinal game in the 12th inning, the Vandals got right to work.

Unfortunately for them, Carlinville was just as ready to play.

Junior Carson Smith doubled and scored on an error in the top of the 12th inning, but a Vandalia error in the bottom of the inning allowed the winning run to score in a 6-5 loss.

Three area teams make regional...

Three teams from the area have made regional championship games.

SOFTBALL

On Friday, (2) Mulberry Grove will battle (1) Altamont at St. Elmo at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, (2) Ramsey will battle (1) Nokomis at Ramsey at 11 a.m.

BASEBALL

On Saturday, (2) South Central will battle (1) Altamont at Lions Field in Kinmundy at 11 a.m.

City, council support FS project

After no one showed up to ask questions about or voice opinions on the plans of South Central FS to build a new facility, the Vandalia City Council unanimously approved a letter of support for that project.
Also on Monday, the Fayette County Board gave unanimous support for the project.
As South Central FS officials unveiled its plans for a new facility at the city’s western Interstate 70 interchange last Monday, the council agreed to hold a public hearing prior to the city council meeting on Monday.

New CPAs

Two employees of the Vandalia accounting firm of Luallen, Cearlock, Barth & Burnam Ltd. have earned their certified public accountant’s credentials.
Tyler Osborne and Amy Palecek successfully passed the Uniform CPA Exam.
