PIASA — One bad quarter.
That was all it took to turn a close game into a blowout.
Southwestern-Piasa used a big third-quarter to get past the Vandalia Lady Vandals, 50-32, on Saturday.
The Lady Vandals trailed by only four at halftime, but the Birds went on a 16-2 run in the third quarter to pull away for good.
In the third period, the Lady Vandals simply went cold from the field, misfiring again and again. A few turnovers also proved costly for the visitors.
