  • Summer lunch program successful

    Editor:
The summer lunch project was a success!
Once again, the citizens of Fayette County rallied to meet a need in their community. “Summer Lunches for Kids” began in 2008 with a mission to provide children in the Vandalia School District with FREE and nutritious lunches during the summer months when they were not in school.

1996 – More than 150 Vandalia Community High School students and faculty members gathered outside for prayer as “See You at the Pole” was observed nationwide.
Louie and Josephine Franklin of Ramsey were observing their 50th wedding anniversary.

As they received the city’s annual audit report last week, Vandalia aldermen learned that the city has trimmed its budget deficit from more than $500,000 to less than $50,000.
That’s good news, because it’s an indication that city officials have been effective in taking steps to operate the city more efficiently and  to be more cautious when it comes to spending.
That’s a trend that must continue.
