The political cartoon in last week’s paper was something that I found to be highly offensive – enough so that it could not be left alone. Some might think that it’s just a cartoon, but it showed clearly how the liberal media has taken a relaxed stance on the Obama administration, further allowing it to push aside the important events that the public should be aware of.

This week’s Mystery Banks Photo: These two girls, shown as teenagers in 1948, grew up in Vandalia. The one on the left now lives in Southern Illinois and the one on the right moved back to Vandalia several years ago. They were members of a special club in high school.

What began as a sour note in March ended with an emotional crescendo Tuesday night as the Vandalia Board of Education reinstated the position of high school band director Tony Hicks.
